Beryl Glass (“Standing in the Gap”) has a fine arts degree from Northern Illinois University and has been a graphic designer since before there were Macs. She has designed Alliance Life for the past 10 years and has published more than 50 children’s stories. Beryl and her husband, Craig, have been in ministry since 1976 when they started their marriage smuggling Bibles behind the Iron Curtain. They have three children, two grandchildren and live in Monument, Colorado, with Tucker the wonder dog.


Jeff Lane (“Safe!”) is a graphic designer and illustrator whose clients have ranged from Focus on the Family books and magazines to the National Geographic Society. He has degrees in art and biology from MidAmerica Nazarene University (Olathe, Kans.) and a master’s degree in medical illustration from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Dallas. He agreed to this gig after his wife, alife’s managing editor, called in 26 years’ worth of favors. Jeff, Melinda and their son, Nate, live in downtown Colorado Springs with a sassy basset hound and a needy Chihuahua.


Rick Hemphill (“Behind Closed Doors”) spent much of his boyhood in front of a sketchbook with pencil in hand, passing the time during many a church service doodling on bulletins. he received his degree in visual communication from Geneva College in conjunction with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. A native of Southern California, Rick left the surf and sand for the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where he lives with wife, Becky, their three girls, Rusty the dog, Edgar the cat, and his Mac. Rick is not only the director for Communications at the C&MA National Office but also the creator of the C&MA Kidz Club.
